When you arrive somewhere on Christmas Eve you don't want to take an afternoon nap and miss anything of course! Luckily Santa's reindeer were still in town resting up before the big night so we took a walk out to meet them at the local garden centre. Finally it was bedtime for Leila, but she managed to sneak in a quick cuddle from her cousins before getting tucked up :-)
It turned out that we had a veritable lie-in with Leila until 6am on Christmas morning; Nanny and Grandad were woken by an excited Alex who had got up at 4am!
Once again Leila was slightly overwhelmed with all the present opening, but she was starting to get the hang of tearing off the paper by the end. She enjoyed sitting in her new bike seat and 'sorting' the quiz cards into piles around the room! Christmas dinner was timed perfectly but Leila wasn't quite playing ball as at first she was more interested in reading her table present of a new book than eating, and then only wanted to eat broccoli! She must have got through the best part of a broccoli head that meal (which was a real treat for us on Boxing day!)
Leila loved snuggling up with Alex on his bed as he watched Star Wars on the laptop, and getting up on the sofa to read her books with Grandad. Leila and Nanny invented a game with the bath toys and Leila found that you could play peekaboo through the bannister. We also took walks out to the park to go on the swings and often popped out for a quick runaround in the garden in our red wellies.
We knew it would be a step back in terms of sleep for Leila this holiday, and so I haven't been too surprised thst she is feeding earlier in the night and sometimes twice before getting up. We've managed to maintain the snack (not milk) pre nap time, but the 'goodnight' routine pre nap has been much extended (multiple trips to the living room to say goodbye to people for example!). She's doing her 11ish hours at night plus two naps in the day that tend to be 30 mins (an hour if we're lucky!)
Leila still has no 'words' but is getting good at her 'sounds'. She has a recognisable 'aaaaat' for cat, 'ppprrrrr!' for elephant and a growl for grandad!
