Leila was pretty good on the flight (taking a nap in the sling on take off, having spent a good 30 mins pushing her buggy around the airport!) but enjoyed the freedom of running around in the fresh air at Heathrow once we landed.
In London Leila loved seeing her Granny and Gramps and her morning wake up visits to Aunty Fabia (and a semi conscious Uncle Sam). She also enjoyed watching Martha and Harry play when we visited their house and carefully stroking dear Agnes their cat.
On 'Christmas day' itself we were a full house with gr-uncle (great uncle) Roy and Katie too (whom Leila swapped cat/phone pictures with). Leila became slightly overwhelmed at present time and had to take a break (to climb down the stairs to the kitchen and back), but was very good with all the business, tree and things not belonging to her!
Although our stay in London was short we discovered a new favourite activity: walking around the block. Leila just loved this! Granny had managed to get some cute red wellies and a Gruffalo hat, so Leila would toddle down the street stepping in puddles and generally exploring. The simple joy of this made us realise what we miss out on by living in Cairo. With no pavements, meaning only busy roads to walk on, it's just not possible to take Leila out like this.
We had a right faff leaving London as 'the storm' meant that our trains were affected. We made it to Grantham and Nanny and Grandad in the end, but only thanks to Granny helping us to haul cases up and down stairs at stations. She was rewarded with a lovely cuddle from Leila and some waving :-)
