Well mainly on the washing as you will have seen from last weekends angry posts! But during the week it seems that it falls mainly on the Ring Road.
A few nights ago a crack of thunder sounded as we were leaving school and getting on the bus home. 20 minutes later we are in solid traffic on the Ring Road.
The only way to get an Egyptian driver to slow down is making him go over speed bumps, or drive through a puddle. So I wasn't too surprised that traffic was slow because of the rain. People jsut don't know how to drive in it and tyres can be really bald. The other thing I discovered from this episode of rain is that a lot of people's windscreen wipers don't work. I saw about a dozen cars pulled over at the side of the road and their drivers out with a pack of tissues trying to clean their windscreen!
After an hour of crawling along the ring Road we finally get to the problem. Without any drains to speak of all the rain has pooled and formed not a puddle, but a small lake covering all five lanes for about 20m and coming mid-way up the tyres of the cars. No wonder everyone it going slow!
The journy normally takes me around 45 minutes, but today it took an hour and a half. People on the bus leaveing an hour after me said it took them between three and four hours to get home!
