Scotty's Birthday Video

So, today the numbers clock around and I put a 3 at the start of my age.

It's fair to call it a 'weird experience' for both of us being away from our wonderful family and friends at times of celebration.  Obviously we have many, many wonderful friends out here as well, but the knowledge that we won't see (and in some cases haven't seen) family and friends elsewhere for many months has a stronger effect on days like today.

With that in mind, it was therefore a complete rollercoaster of emotions to be shown a brilliant video this morning.  Alice had already presented me with some wonderful gifts and cards that she'd hidden and smuggled back out here after the summer but then showed me the video below.  It's a wonderful yet simple idea, and fantastically executed - and it left me completely speechless and quite a jibbering wreck.  The people in this video are some of the most wonderful, kind and thoughtful people I could ever hope to know - and I feel incredibly lucky that they took the time to contribute to Alice's mammoth project.

To all of you, wherever you be, thank you for absolutely making my day.  Above all, thank you to Alice for the best present ever.  I love you all dearly.
